He’s the man, Jin-soo.

Remember the second episode when Seung-yeon fell off the ladder while fixing the signboard at her coffee house and was clutching her dear life? Another, after Jin-soo hired Seung-yeon as his secretary very much to his reluctance, he began using her for his so-called writing research.. Helium gas, luggage fit, hoola-hoop from one point to the other..

The third episode, where Jin-soo got back at his senior, Ji-woo for Eun-young by ferrying him to faraway while he was unconscious. Poor Ji-won, he made Robinson Crusoe seem less pitiful because the latter at least know why and how he got to the island. While the naive Ji-won believed Jin-soo that he may really have been abducted by aliens.

All of these, may make Jin-soo look like some sadistic and heartless man but if you look at the other way, he actually is not. Given his unhappy past, he cuts himself from the outside world (no mobile phones, running away from public appearances), it’s like he wishes to be left alone for his remaining life. Which is pretty true, as revealed later in episode six. After his wife got killed in the car, Jin-soo could not get over with the fact and lived like a tramp. It was Eun-young who pulled him out of the pit by offering him the contract, which gives him a purpose to continue living. As you see from the beginning that Jin-soo only cares about finishing writing his books because of the contract that still bind him to this world.. He doesn’t give a damn to book-signing or interview sessions, which is why he is always on the run and why his friend, Eun-young gets so tired of cleaning up the mess he always creates and threatens to terminate the contract, which she eventually initiated in episode 10. This contract termination is also the turning point that makes Jin-soo realize what is he now without the living purpose.

Whatever Jin-soo did in the series makes Coffee House so much special and different from other series. If the scriptwriters had not included these moments, Coffee House would have set out to fail right from the beginning because..

Triangular relationships are BORING..

It makes her no different from other drama, basically all Korean dramas seem to have this vibe.. which deviates from reality. Well in Coffee House, it’s lot complicated that involves some overlapping.

Jin-soo//Eun-young//Ji-won

Seriously, I have never considered Eun-young to get back with Ji-won in episode 15. The lad has been a pain in the ass, but somehow over the two years without the Jin-soo’s intervene, his relentless pursuit managed to touch Eun-young. So there you go. The writers need something to build on a reason for Jin-soo becoming the wedding crasher. Who else better fits the role of Eun-young’s fiancee but Ji-won, who had hurt Eun-young before and whom, Jin-soo had little fear for (Man to man, Ji-won is more childish than Jin-soo).

In the beginning, I would have preferred a Jin-soo//Seung-yeon ending because they do really seem compatible. When the two are together, they are always doing silly things that make me laugh. However, in the last few episodes, when Jin-soo was back from overseas, there weren’t any sparks between the two.. It’s only Seung-yeon’s one side love. Hence, she will continue to  look up to Jin-soo as her teacher, the one who groomed her to become a professional. While Seung-yeon has many years before she can gain the same achievements as Jin-soo, no doubt the two’s relationship will only maintain as writer/secretary. Jin-soo, who is Seung-yeon’s most respected and admired person and Seung-yeon, who in Jin-soo’s eyes, has matured and truly become a professional.

Now, I’m going to talk about the pair that eventually ends up together.

Eun-young and Jin-soo have been friends for many years. However, at that time Jin-soo was married. Hence, the couple missed the timing. Even if they love each other then, Jin-soo could not possibly give up his marriage for Eun-young. After his wife passed away, as I mentioned that it was Eun-young who pulled Jin-soo out of hell, which made their friendship even more valuable. I believe in the beginning, Eun-young’s love for Jin-soo was more than the man has for her. It was during the two years while overseas, Jin-soo truly realized who he wants to be with and hence, he came back with a proposal ring. Eun-young is the person he wants to protect.

Saying so much, I’m pretty convinced that the love here is different. It isn’t the kind that shows love on the surface, but rather, everything is expressed within the characters. You don’t hear them saying out “I love you” or those affectionate gestures. Rather, it’s the sacrifices that one would make so the one they love can live a better life. For example, Eun-young letting Jin-soo go on his trip in episode 12 because he needs the time to find back his true meaning of life. The second example is, when Jin-soo decides Eun-young deserves her happiness with Ji-won. Of course, that didn’t happen.. after the wedding crash.

To end, Coffee House may not have been the drama grabbed me my most attention. It is still a good production that is filled with fun and amiable characters.

Park Shi-hoo is so cute~~

Just a few days ago, I was reminiscing her acting in her previous work, The Legend and the reason I am going to watch Great Merchant Man-deok because of this girl. She is moving to Pittsburg to pursue her high school education, not that I have anything against her decision. It’s just that, aw.. the industry lost another young talent actress and I lost my favourite child actress.

Shim Eun-kyung had obviously made the most rational decision given she is only fifteen-year-old. Seriously, fame never last. One minute you are on top of the charts, the next you may be gone from the industry. Plus being a celebrity takes away all their privacy as their lives are pretty much open to the public. So for her age now, I would say education is what she needs most and going aboard to study can give her the cultural experiences.

I look forward to her return to acting when she grows into a more mature lady.

Before I go fan crazy how soothing this song is, I would like to comment about the drama. It’s interesting how the MV introduces us to the four characters in the drama, which is a twist of the original Cinderella fairy tale. Instead of Cinderella, the drama focuses on her stepsister, acted by Moon Geun-young while Seo-woo played Cinderella. From the MV, it seems like there is going to be a four-angled relationship, again. To be honest, four-angle love plot is kind of old…

Overall I like the cast, the fact they mix the veterans (Moon Geun-young and Chun Jung-myung) and newbies (Seo-woo and Taecyeon). I wouldn’t call Seo-woo exactly inexperienced given the number of successful movies she acted but as this is her third time acting in a drama… Guess she is still considered relatively new? I have to admit though, I was a bit disappointed when she was given a supporting role instead.Hopefully she does well in this series and I don’t care what others say about her being rude on variety shows. This girl has had potential in acting and I ship her. Of course, there is Moon Geun-young who won the Daesang award based on The Painter of T. I’m up to see her acting. Then there are the forever young looking Chun Jung-myung and beastly idol-turn-actor Taecyeon. Who says I would give this drama a miss?

The title of the song is “It Has To Be You” (너 아니면 안돼) and is sang by Yesung. Well he’s really good. If I have to pick who can really sing from the thirteen boys. I would choose Ye-sung, Ryeo-wook and Sung-min. They have the best vocals and the cute looks.

After watching the MV, all I can say is

Bring it on, sisters~ ^^

1. make you go screaming “OMG, they’re having a new single/album~”
2. start counting down (mentally) to their comeback
3. tell you the concept they are using for the new single/album
4. eventually, it’s a marketing ploy to make you buy their albums (if you’re the die-hard fan)

I have selected a few that were released this month. The best teaser of this month, I would say it goes to Lee Hyo-ri with her coming fourth album H-Logic. This is so Hyo-ri like. Although I”m really a fan of her songs, I love the comic strip effects and colours they use in the MV. Jjang!

I was supposed to start on Merchant Kim Man-deok after seeing Shim Eun-kyung (I liked her from the time she acted in The Legend) is cast as the young Man Deok. KBS world channel was showing the BTS of her and the other guy, Do Ji-han, whom I believe is relatively new in the industry but have heard others sing praises of him. He is the one who acted as the young chap in Will it snow at Christmas? Anyway… After all those hoo-ha… I went to download Dong Yi seeing that the episodes are already up. What a fool.What’s so nice about Dong Yi? For a start, it’s the director from Dae Jang Geum. For your information, that was my very first Korean drama and one that I finished from the first to the last episode. Thus I’m always excited about his new works, except that I haven’t watched Yi San. Judging from an obsessed friend of mine, she bought all three different sets of the drama and spazz over Han Ji-min and Lee Seo-jin. I suppose it is nice?

Next the actors and actresses. If you notice, they have all the popular names. Han Hyo-joo, the rich girl-turned-cinderella-turned rich girl from Shining Inheritance. She is taking the role of Dong-yi, who is off . From the pictures I saw, I think she is the gentle, demure woman (kind of different from the spunky personality she had in SI). But from the first episode, seems as though she is the ambitious kind who would resort to tricks to get her way but I believe her heart is pure. Jin Ji-hee, my favourite da-rim from DJG. He’s finally back with a decent work~ (sorry but his last drama was a disaster, and that’s my opinion.) and he’s acting a king. I’m not sure if he is up to the king role but awaiting for his appearance. Bae Soo-bin, frankly I don’t know he is taking this drama as well. It’s very hard to see actors and actresses collaborate the second time. So Bae Soo-bin and Han Hyo-joo meet again. Sadly, he is not playing her love interest, but rather doing what he did in SI. Standing behind, giving her that adoring gaze as she falls in love with another guy. Finally Lee So-yeon, I have never watched her works before, but I have heard she had a huge fan base after her last drama, Temptation of an Angel. Yeah, I think she is the antagonist in the drama, Dong Yi’s nemesis in the palace. (I guess, this gives you the big four.)

I’m quite pleased at how the story progress and truly enjoyed watching the first two episodes. Although the scenery isn’t as artistic compared to Chuno, I love the snow in the background. It is awesome. Of course, they must have worked really hard under such harsh conditions. Then it wasn’t as dilly-dally compared to DJG. Kudos.

The performance  by Kim Yoo Jung is reasonably well, though I like her better in Tamna Island. In here, she plays as the young witty Dong-yi, who stands up for any injustice(seen from the market). She knows how to read and write Hangual despite her lowly birth. Her father is  a coroner, who examines bodies and Dong-yi has an elder brother, who works as an entey Irtainer in the palace. Little does she know that her family is involved in a secret organization that protects the rights and interest of the lower class. And the story begins as she found the dead minister under the bridge… Not going to be a spoiler. But towards the end of episode 2, I don’t think Dong-yi’s family would survive the execution. Although I’m quite sure that Chun-soo would try to save them and end up getting hurt…

If I have to be picky, I think that few minutes in episode one when Dong-yi met two men in the streets, I feel it’s redundant. Can’t you be direct and tell the girl to be careful and take the main road because it’s late night? Rather than having the fortune teller and student appeared suddenly gave her advice and later explained that he can sense that the girl is in trouble and found it weird that Dong-yi would lead a luxurious life in the future.. As the audience, I don’t quite buy the story. Even if the director wants to drop hints to his audience, could you please do it less discreetly? Other than all these, I don’t think there is any more to say except I will keep a tab on the series. 50 episodes, it’s kind of long for me… I may just give up halfway like what I did for Queen Seon-duk…

Hello people! I know this is not the strawberry love I promised. Really sorry! It’s all because I heard an piano version of this song yesterday and the first thing comes to my mind it fits Hyun-jung. My inspiration came and as a result, this happened. As I said before, I have nothing against Hyun-jung. She is a cute and sweet girl. If you watch the recent episodes, she is actually a lonesome person, and doesn’t tell others about her worries. Feel sad for Hyun-jung because I’m the kind of person, who share my problems with others. :O

On the side note, I’m really happy that everyone likes the first MV! I’m so glad some of you responded to the poll, yes YES I know everyone wants the strawberry love now. XP It’s deep in my head now. I will try and start on it as soon as I find time! (die… because everyone’s expecting it, I guess I have to rack my brains to make it better? T_T)

First time entering such contest — nervous and excited. ^^ Spent the whole of yesterday editing this. Well if have been watching my videos should know I like writing long long descriptions (well I just can’t resist going on and on about stuff) Like wise for this video.. HEHEH this too, long story. I was really skeptical of this drama (I’m an anti melodrama-tian~), but then the drama slowly grows on me. SLOWLY. I love the family of three! XOXO

About the drama:
AUTUMN CONCERTO! If you haven’t watched this Taiwanese drama, below is a description, adapted from dramawiki. . But in reality, his lonely life lacks joy, laughter and motivation. That is until he meets Liang Mu Cheng, the new bento seller at his school canteen. She is passionate and determined to live her life despite her sad past. A harmless bet brings the two together and Guang Xi slowly changes as Mu Cheng teaches him how to give and love. What happens next, is all seen in this video.

About the song:
I used a non-Korean song, hem hem, it’s a Chinese song sang by JJ Lin Jun Jie. (He’s from my country by the way, so I’m really proud to be using this song for the audition.) I always have a hard time selecting songs for the MVs, likewise this too. In the end, I decided on this because of the touching lyrics. Everyone has their ups and downs, so do celebrities. Note: I know the song title does not really mean “the first 100 days”, but Chinese like Korean, can’t really translate into exact ones. So, please bear with me.

Why do I keep forgetting their names? My memory is failing me. I’m getting old. Yikes! (It’s only fair I choose this thumbnail. The previous one was Baek-hyun and Pil-ip! )

Okay, this is the second MV to God of Study. Do you know K B S World calls them by a different name, “Master of Study”. I saw the TV advertisement the other day, and I was like o_0. I prefer the GOS better I guess.

Sorry I changed the song, (the previous song seems really antsy until the end that it doesn’t fit anymore) so there wasn’t really a second part. But I still added the clips I used in the preview. In fact, I edited and was tempted to upload the second version. But I’ve been receiving so many nice comments from you all. I don’t really want to lose any of them so I just inserted the edited into this mv.

Honestly I see Pil-ip and Chan-do ending up as a couple, but, my heart aches for Baek-hyun. Aww the poor guy… I know people want him to go with Hyun Jung, hmmm… I don’t have anything against her. Best situation is they all turn out to be single at the final episode. BOY! I can’t believe I’m such sadist.
